Clear, plain-English answers on what data we collect, why we collect it and the control you have over it.

Who we are

This website is operated by Appcloid Technologies Limited (trading as AppCloid Technologies), a private limited company registered in Scotland under company number SC626982. Our registered office is 8 Culzean Crescent, Newton Mearns, Glasgow, G77 5TA.

We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. If you have any questions, email us at contact@appcloid.com.

The data we collect

We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run this site and respond to you:

  • Enquiry data — when you use our contact form we collect your name, work email, company name (optional), industry sector (optional) and your message.
  • Correspondence — if you email us directly, we hold your email address and the content of our exchange.
  • Usage data — anonymised analytics about how the site is used, such as pages visited, approximate location (country/city), device and browser type.
  • Technical logs — our hosting provider automatically records server logs, including IP addresses, to keep the service secure and available.

We do not knowingly collect special-category data and we never sell your personal data.

Cookies & analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site. It sets first-party cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*) that last up to two years and lets Google process usage data on our behalf. IP addresses are not logged or stored by Google Analytics 4.

You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on (opens in a new tab). Blocking analytics cookies does not affect how the site works.

Who we share data with

We share data only with trusted processors that help us run this website:

  • EmailJS — delivers contact form submissions to our inbox.
  • Google — provides website analytics (Google Analytics).
  • GitHub — hosts this website (GitHub Pages) and processes server logs.

We may also disclose data where required by law, or to professional advisers (such as accountants or lawyers) under a duty of confidentiality.

International transfers

Some of our processors are based outside the UK, including in the United States. Where data leaves the UK we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as the UK–US Data Bridge, UK adequacy regulations or the ICO's International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum — to ensure your data stays protected.

How long we keep data

  • Enquiries that do not lead to a project: up to 24 months after our last contact.
  • Client and contract records: 6 years after the engagement ends, for legal and tax purposes.
  • Analytics data: up to 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted.

Security

This site is served exclusively over HTTPS. We apply access controls, the principle of least privilege and encryption in transit to all personal data we handle. No system is perfectly secure, but we take prompt action to contain and report any incident in line with our legal obligations.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
